WEBSITE
Website homepage https://leannaephillips.wixsite.com/my-site
On my contents page there is a comment addressing a link to the website www.catchupmagazine.com, this would be in place as my Wix website address if I was not using Wix.
The other page that has been edited is the "articles" page in the top column.
The video I made can be found on the article page on the left hand side. It is someone plating up some food and I have used it as an advert for Tesco.
PRODUCTION
This is my February contents page for catch up. It is a double page spread featuring my welcome paragraph, meet the team, contact details and a puzzle section. All the contents relates to the front cover of the February edition magazine cover.
This is my January contents page for catch up. It is a double page spread featuring my welcome paragraph, meet the team, contact details and a puzzle section. All the contents relates to the front cover of the January edition magazine cover.
This is my February edition issue 2.
This is my January edition issue 1.
PLANNING WEBSITE
I started with this template from Wix. The masthead/brand is in the left hand corner just like where I wanted my masthead to be. The bags are where I wanted my articles to be layout all across in a row of four.
This is how my header was going to be for all my pages as inspiration from the other real-life magazine websites. The red matches the colour scheme of the magazine I made to have brand identity throughout and let the audience recognise it. I used these 7 headlines as options and planned on having the 'articles' page as my click on option.
I then added some more adverts as in my statement of intent I described how I need to have a way of producing income as my selling price for the magazine is so low. So having more adverts makes up for the revenue, also a big selling point is that we pay cash for peoples stories so I made that advertisement bright and bold. I also included the two magazine covers in the front of my website to show brand identity and make it clear what the website is associated too.
I then added three adverts that I thought were necessary to the website. The first being a holiday to a popular party island, which is why I chose Magaluf I felt it was suitable to my target audience. I included a link to the magazines Facebook page as well as to join the VIP club.
I then like the first initial idea I added some articles using 4 along in a row like products that are the same as the stories on my front covers or that relate to the stories in the contents pages.
I then wanted to include a win cash prizes to make up for empty space across the website. The puzzles are also included in my contents page of my magazine to create convergence.
I then wanted to add a meet the team section at the bottom so users could feel more close with the magazine company. I initially only had two males on there but it seemed too sparse. So I added on another two girls and a paragraph from one of the 'leading' team members.
This was the final result for the meet the team page.
PLANNING PRODUCTION
Masthead
Magazine 1
This was my first original copy of the baseline for my magazine, this was a copy of the background of a mix of real-life magazines. The dark grey boxes initially to have original photos on to fill in a lot of the white spaces. The dark black box I was planning on having a barcode horizontally at the bottom. The yellow for the bold headlines and smaller, secondary headline text. The dark pink would have been the price stamp to show how much it would cost. The large block is for the female model, originally to be printed bigger to make up more of the blank space.
This is the next baseline the light yellow background to make the product shine out, including the issue date and the masthead including the first idea for the 'sticker' price.
I then changed the background colour to have a softer look as the background so that the masthead and the other imagery stand out including the text. The green boxes are for the images I would insert that would come along with smaller headlines for the articles and stories. The black box is for the barcode I made it vertical to have more space for the photos and text.
This was my final piece I added an advertisement and attempted to fill it up as much as possible to not have a lot of white background. I used bright and bold colours to attract audiences attention. The pink will be the texts alongside the photos describing the articles. They will be in a bold text to make them more eye catching.
This is the final result once added all the imagery, I decided to add in a lot of photo in the bottom right hand corner and the story to mimic the idea that it is January so a new year. I also added arrows to show where you can find the articles in the magazine itself so its easier to find later on.
Magazine 2
Contents Page
This is my second issue begin, I decided to do a similar form but add in a top bar with something to include a winning shout out as well as a small article.
The pink boxes are for the text. The front cover looks very filled up resembling a lot of the real life magazines with not a lot of space left.
This is my final product. I inserted a lot of photos and added in the arrows that are the same as the first magazine issue to show the similarity. I included stories that relate to the time of the year as February has valentines I added an issue relating to that. The photo of the girl used is similar to the generic photos used in a lot of the real life magazines. The colour scheme is the same to the first issue of the magazine. I ended up going with the bright bold colours to attract the audience attention especially with the highlighted text, the yellow, red and blue work well together to create a bright magazine cover.
Contents Page
My original idea for a contents page was a single page spread with the contents all spread out and photo squeezed in from the inside of the magazine. The blue squares are the photos I would add. The black would be the description of the contents page and the purple at the bottom would have my contact details for the magazine. I wanted to keep a white background so you could focus on the photos and the text.
I then decided to do a double page spread so I could fill in more and include a welcome paragraph that I could add to my website as well. I can also add a meet the team section and the green can be more contents photos an 'exclusive inside the addition'.
Contents 2
My second contents page is much similar with different photos and different categories and articles inside.
AUDIENCE WEBSITE
This is my home page, the first thing the audience will see.
This is the website article page the second link page on my website.
